Gap table

SigNoz against Datadog on the things a buyer checks before switching. Extracted, not opined.

Method

The same nine-field JSON schema was run against both sites with Context.dev's extract endpoint, one call per page, four pages per site (pricing, security, product, customers). The two results were compared as sets in Python. No model wrote the comparison. Items are as written on each site.

Pages read on 5 Sep 2026. Full output in signoz_gap_table.md.

What it says

AreaFinding
Compliance and access controlA tie. Both have SOC 2, HIPAA, SAML, RBAC, audit logs. Datadog adds SCIM, MFA, IP allowlists, session management. SigNoz adds a BAA and fine-grained roles. A buyer checking badges finds the same things on both sides.
Where you can run itSigNoz wins, and it's structural. Datadog lists regions only. SigNoz lists Cloud, Dedicated, BYOC, self-hosted, and self-hosted with enterprise support. Datadog can't offer any of that.
Switching helpOne-directional. SigNoz has a "migrate from Datadog" page, an automated tool, and dashboard migration support. Datadog has no "migrate from anyone" page.
AI featuresDatadog lists 16 named features. SigNoz lists 5. The only one on both lists is an MCP server. If a deal turns on AI, Datadog wins that argument.
Pricing unitsDifferent. Datadog charges per host ($15 to $40 each) plus per GB of logs. SigNoz charges per GB only. Any side-by-side needs both host count and volume.

The line for the deck

Same badges. Datadog has more AI. SigNoz is the only one you can run yourself, and the only one with a way in from Datadog.

What changed because of this

  • "SigNoz lacks compliance" was an assumption going in. It's not true. Dropped.
  • The cost card needs two inputs, not one. See Sequence spec.
  • The migration page URL in the working notes was wrong. /docs/migrate-from-datadog/ returns 404. The real page is /product-comparison/migrate-from-datadog.

What the extraction got wrong or thin

  • SigNoz retention came back as one vague string. The public numbers (15 to 180 days hot, cold queryable to two years) are better and win.
  • Datadog's integration count came back as 13 because the page only surfaces the marquee ones. The real number is in the hundreds. Don't compare that field.
  • Datadog's own page spells HIPAA as "HIPPA" and RBAC as "RABC." The extraction preserved both. So did the diff.
